Angie Mitchell and Gary Strobel MSU student, Angie Mitchell, recently went to Ecuador with Dr. Gary Strobel of MSU, Dr.Scott Strobel of Yale University and 17 other undergraduates from Yale University. There they collected and analyzed rainforest plants that have beneficial microbes. A portion of Mitchell's trip was supported with funds from the Hughes Undergraduate Biology Program. Two University of Washington, Bettye Apenteng (pictured at left) and TramAnh Phan (not pictured) came to MSU on April 15, 2008 to present their research at the Student Research Celebration. Bettye's poster was titled "An Extrinsic Cue Regulates Neuronal Temporal Identity in Drosophila" and TramAnh's poster was titled, "Investigating the Ubiquitin Lysine Linkage Specificity of the Breast Cancer Protein, BRCA1".
OSU students Two Oregon State University students, Jessica Perry and Daniel Bai, came to MSU on April 15, 2008 to present their research at the Student Research Celebration. Jessica's poster was titled "Development of New Molecular Markers for Regeneration in Zebrafish" and Daniel's poster was titled, "The Search for Mitochondrial Ribonucleotide Reductase".
Sara Muscarelli Sara Muscarelli, 2008 Complex Biological Systems Summer Undergraduate Research Program participant and 2007 Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Cell Biology & Neuroscience participant, presented her work at the 33rd Annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference. Sara presented her poster titled, " The Zic Gene Family in Xenopus and Chick Embryos." Sara's poster presentation was awarded the top in her session!
Bridgett McNulty Bridgett McNulty, 2008 Complex Biological Systems Summer Undergraduate Research Program participant and 2007 Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Cell Biology & Neuroscience participant, presented her work at the 33rd Annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference. Bridgett gave an oral presentation titled, "Determination of Chick Protocadherin-1 Binding Partners". Brigett also presented a poster with the same title at the MSU Student Research Celebration on April 15, 2008.
Josh Martin and Jeannie Hunnicutt Present their Posters at University of Washington

Two 2007 CBS students presented their research posters at the University of Washington's Hughes Undergraduate Research Symposium on October 26, 2007. Josh Martin (far left) presented his poster titled, "Effects of Zic1 on mRNA Expression During Xenopus Neurulation". Jeannie Hunnicut presented her poster titled, "Processes Underlying Visual Working Memory".
